Naples godmother found in cupboard
Police in the Italian city of Naples say they have arrested an alleged leader of the local organised crime network -- a woman nicknamed Queen of the Clan. The suspect, Erminia Giuliano, is alleged to have taken control of the Camorra -- the Neapolitan equivalent of the Mafia -- after her brothers were arrested. The police rank her among Italy's thirty most dangerous criminals, but she disappeared ten months ago. The lengthy search for her came to an end when officers raided the home of a relative and found a secret room behind a kitchen cupboard. Mrs Giuliano, who was hiding inside, now faces charges of criminal association. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
