Eight sentenced to death in Rwanda

A court in Rwanda has sentenced another eight people to death for their part in the genocide of 1994, in which up to a million people were killed.

All eight had pleaded guilty to involvement in killings around the southern town of Butare.

Several hundred people have been convicted since the first genocide trial opened eighteen months ago.

About one-hundred-and-twenty thousand more are in prison awaiting trial.
