Newlywed Madonna flies away
![]() The new Mr and Mrs Ritchie leave Skibo Castle
Newlyweds Madonna and movie director Guy Ritchie have flown out of Scotland after their Highland wedding at Skibo Castle, Sutherland.
Mr and Mrs Ritchie left for their honeymoon as silently as they arrived on a private aircraft from Inverness Airport. The wedding, which took place on Friday evening before a star-studded group of 80 guests, was cloaked in a veil of secrecy. The media was kept at bay by an ultra-tight security operation, with the only confirmation that it even took place coming from the Rev Susan Brown who conducted the service.
Guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney, Sting, Rupert Everett and Donatella Versace. The roll-call of famous names tipped to have attended the ceremony also included Hollywood stars George Clooney, Robin Williams, and Brad Pitt. Rock stars Jon Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams were both spotted flying in to Inverness Airport for the event. Official photo French photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino, who took the pictures for Madonna's latest album, was rumoured to be the wedding photographer. No official photographs were made available to the media, who had to make do with trying to snap the stars as they were driven in and out of the estate.
Police arrested two men following the baptism. A 51-year-old was detained on Thursday evening after he tried to leave Dornoch Cathedral, and a 33-year-old was arrested in Dornoch in the early hours of Friday morning. Northern Constabulary said the two men, both from the south of England, had been charged with a number of offences. Both men were released on Friday evening and are due to appear at Dornoch Sheriff Court early next week.
