Slimmer's sproutless festivities
Geraint Benney
Geraint Benney will not eat sprouts this Christmas
A slimmer from south Wales who shed a stone and a half on a diet of brussels sprouts is giving them up at Christmas.

Geraint Benney from Aberdare lost the weight in two months by mainly tucking into sprouts for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

But when everyone else eats sprouts on Christmas Day, the 28-year-old actor who now weights 14-and-a-half stone, will be munching on celery.

He decided to ban sprouts from the dinner table at Christmas after he realised that he had tired of consuming around 60 a day.

I have started eating celery and will switch to eating celery full time in the New Year

Geraint Benney
"I was going to give myself a day off on Christmas Day and start eating sprouts again afterwards," he said.

"But I started to get fed up with them and decided not to go back to sprouts after Christmas."

"I have started eating celery and will switch to eating celery full time in the New Year."

Geraint, who has worked on Casualty and the BBC Welsh soap Pobol y Cwm, is now thinking up celery recipes.

During his sprout phase, he carried them around with him in his pockets to eat like sweets, ate mashed sprouts with salt and pepper and even drank sprout water cocktail.

He had calls from people who heard about his successful sprout diet and wanted to try it for themselves.
