Search after attack India's Red Fort

Police in India have mounted a search for suspected Kashmiri militants who carried out an attack on the historic Red Fort in the capital, Delhi, killing three people.

The police have combed the fort for clues, and now believe the attackers have escaped under cover of darkness.

Callers claiming to belong to the militant Kashmiri separatist group, Lashkar-e-Toyeba, have told the BBC they carried out the attack in response to India's current unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir.

The BBC Delhi correspondent says the attack will raise questions about the future of the truce, and security arrangements at the Red Fort -- the scene of India's proclamation of independence, and a popular tourist attraction.
