Snow on cards for Christmas
![]() Snowdonia is likely to get snow
Weather forecasts predict a chance of a white Christmas in parts of Wales.
Cold temperatures and Arctic winds are set to combine with slow moving cloud to give the possibility of snow in parts of north and mid Wales.
Towards the end of the week, Snowdonia looked more sun-kissed than snow-capped, but it is one of the parts of Wales most likely to get a dusting of snow on Christmas Day. And just the rumour of a White Christmas has already made an impact at the tills of an outdoor shop in Beddgelert. As long as they heard the word 'white', they will come in and buy, buy, buy," said Liz Huggett of Y Warws.
"But for me, it will just mean a Christmas picnic on Snowdon. That's all I want to do, to spend the Christmas on the mountain." But even if it snows enough in north Wales to justify donning on the thermal, people who have placed bets on a white Christmas are still unlikely to make any money out of it. "It would have to snow at Cardiff International Airport or in Cardiff city centre itself," explained bookmaker Karl Williams. "Unfortunately if it snows in Snowdonia or anywhere else it doesn't matter." "It only matters if it does so in Cardiff. And one snow flake is all it takes for us to pay out."
