Yachtsman mourns loss of giant catamaran

A British yachtsman who'd been hoping to set a new round-the-world record with a revolutionary giant catamaran his given up, after the boat was lost at sea.

The yachtsman, Pete Goss, and his crew were dramatically rescued off the coast of Canada earlier this month, after the catamaran was damaged by what Mr Goss called the worst storms he'd ever experienced.

Now he's told journalists there's no sign of the Team Philips catamaran which, with its two massive masts and torpedo-shaped hulls, could travel at up to thirty-five knots.

Anyone who eventually salvages the vessel would be entitled to up to eighty percent of its estimated six-million-dollar value.
