Netanyahu says Israelis will reject accord

The former Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has warned that any Middle East peace agreement reached hastily in Washington will be rejected by the Israeli people.

Speaking during a visit to Moscow, Mr Netanyahu said their opposition would be registered at the polls once a general election was held.

Earlier this week, Mr Netanyahu announced that he wouldn't be standing in the forthcoming election for a new prime minister after he failed to get parliament to call a general election as well.
