Butchers on fraud charges

Two butchers from Cardigan are facing charges of fraud following a police investigation.

Elin James and her brother Dilwyn James have been charged under the Community Agricultural Police Regulations and the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act.

The charges arise from the time when the family ran an abattoir at Cardigan and carried slaughtering work for the Government Agricultural Intervention Board.

Elin James faces eight charges of providing false information.

Dilwyn James faces eight charges of providing false information and four of forgery.

They are expected to appear at Cardigan Magistrates Court on 2 January.
