Festive getaway troubles
![]() Train companies are bracing themselves for three days of pressure as the beleaguered rail network tries to cope with the annual Christmas getaway. Speed restrictions are preventing operators from running the usual number of trains, and Intercity services are expected to be overcrowded. On the roads, drivers have been warned to expect long delays with the Friday before Christmas, which is traditionally the busiest day for traffic in the festive season.
