Two injured in separate attacks

Two men are being treated in hospital after separate paramilitary-style attacks.

In the first attack, a 37-year-old man was shot in both legs.

It happened at an area called The Glen in Rathcoole, Newtownabbey, on the outskirts of Belfast at about 2040 GMT on Thursday.

In the second incident, a 19-year-old was shot in the thigh in the Sandy Row area of Belfast at about 2200 GMT on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy is being treated in hospital after being beaten by a gang in west Belfast.

At least eight masked and armed men singled him out after forcing their way into a house in the Rock Grove area at about 1830 GMT on Thursday.

He has facial injuries and severe bruising.
