| Jean-Christophe Mitterrand, who was his father's adviser on African affairs from 1986 to 1992, was formally placed under judicial investigation late on Thursday, the first step to formal charges. Police are examining allegations that he received cash payments from an arms dealer, Pierre Falcone. Author and businessman Paul-Loup Sulitzer was also detained.
