Palk murder anniversary appeal
South Wales Police logo
A decade after the brutal murder of a women returning from an office party, detectives have said they are still hopeful of catching her killer.

The inquiry into the death of Geraldine Palk just yards from her home in the Fairwater area of the capital, has never been closed.

South Wales Police are making a fresh appeal for information on the tenth anniversary of her death.

Ms Palk's body was discovered in a stream a few days before Christmas in1990.

The 26-year-old office worker had been raped, bludgeoned about the head and stabbed more than 80 times.

DNA sample

Her murder sparked a mass DNA screening programme in which detectives tested over 5,000 men.

But despite the extensive investigation no one has ever been charged.

Officers have revealed that they are now working on the development of a new DNA sample from evidence at the crime scene to compare with samples held on a National Database.

They are also appealing for anyone who has information about her death - but who did not contact them at the time - to come forward.
