Jones nominated for Golden Globe
![]() Jones and Douglas have both received nominations
Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones has received a best supporting actress nomination for her latest film Traffic.
The movie's director Steven Soderbergh received two best director nominations. His Roman epic Gladiator and drug war drama Traffic have been nominated for five Golden Globe awards each.
Other than Zeta Jones, the other best supporting actress nominees were Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand for Almost Famous, Dame Judi Dench for Chocolat, and Julie Walters for Billy Elliot. The Swansea-born actress's husband Michael Douglas - the couple married in New York in November - is competing against star of Gladiator Russell Crowe for best actor in a dramatic movie. Douglas has been nominated for role in Wonder Boys. Awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globe awards, which will be held on 21 January, are seen as an important indicator of which films will be nominated for the Oscars.
Other than Traffic and Gladiator, the other nominees for best dramatic picture are Billy Elliot, Erin Brockovich, Sunshine and Wonder Boys. The nominees for best musical or comedy picture are Almost Famous, Best In Show, Chicken Run, Chocolat, and O Brother Where Art Thou?
