Bosnia delays weary the West

Attempts to form a government in Bosnia-Hercegovina after elections last month are facing further delay.

The inaugural meeting of parliament due to be held today has been postponed for eight days, after the main Bosnian Croat party complained that it wasn't properly consulted about some parliamentary posts.

Nationalist parties lost control in the elections, and the multi-ethnic Social Democratic Party, now the largest single group in parliament, is trying to form a coalition government.

The NATO secretary-general, George Robertson, who's visiting Sarajevo, appealed for elected officials to start taking over control from the international authorities in the country.
