Koreas end latest transport link talks
Military officials from North and South Korea have ended their latest round of talks on reopening transport links closed half a century ago. Reports say the two sides exchanged revised draft accords detailing contingency plans for averting a possible border clash by troops in the demilitarised zone during the construction phase of the proposed road and rail links. The meeting was held in the border village of Panmunjom. A further meeting was proposed for next week. The first stage of construction will be the removal of thousands of land mines from the Korean demilitarised zone. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
