Madonna minister's confession
![]() Rev Susan Brown will marry the couple on Friday
The minister who is to marry Madonna and Guy Ritchie has confessed that she does not own any of the singer's records and has not seen the director's films.
Susan Brown was speaking on Thursday, just hours before she was due to baptise the showbiz couple's four-month-old baby Rocco at Dornoch Cathedral in the Highlands. The Church of Scotland minister will also conduct the wedding of Madonna, 42, and Ritchie, 32, at nearby Skibo Castle on Friday. But Rev Brown has admitted she knows very little about the work of the internationally-famous stars.
"I haven't seen any Guy Ritchie films, although Madonna has one named after me, I think, called 'Desperately Seeking Susan'." The 41-year-old said the couple would need to understand the importance of both ceremonies. "Baptism has a particular obligation on parents. "They have to state their belief in one God, father and holy spirit. "They also have to promise to bring up their child in the faith of the gospel and fellowship of the church." 'Veil caught fire' Asked what would be the worst thing to happen when the eyes of the world's media were on her, Rev Brown recalled her most disastrous experience at a wedding ceremony. She said: "The bride's veil actually caught fire. The whole place was candle lit and it just happened to go over the top of a candle. "The veil caught fire and I leapt and put it out."
She said they were a symbol of marriage - long, strong and soft just like love. The minister hands out the toilet rolls to all the couples she marries. She is known as a modern thinker who is keen to get everyone involved in church activities. In the past, Rev Brown has rollerskated down the aisle during family services at the cathedral in order to keep the attention of the children. And it is even understood she has allowed the Mr and Mrs Ritchie-to-be a free hand in deciding their vows.
