Time for Thai spice

The real Spice Girls - before the loss of Geri

Five singing transsexuals in Thailand who have modelled themselves on the British pop band, The Spice Girls, have become the focus of media attention following the resignation of Ginger Spice from the British group.

Their manager Nipon Boonmasuwaran said their performances at a cabaret in Bangkok have been selling out this week.

A BBC correspondent in Bangkok says interest in the Spice Girls is huge in Thailand and that as a result says many newspapers there have given front-page coverage to the new Thai group.
