Customs officers seize the wrong pants
Wallace and Gromit
Wallace and canine chum Gromit pose for the camera
Customs officers have seized thousands of pairs of Wallace and Gromit pants.

However, they were not only the wrong pants, they were completely counterfeit.

Officers at Harwich dock seized the cargo, which was bound via a distribution centre in Kent to market traders all over the UK.

The consignment also included hundreds of Tasmanian Devil and Homer Simpson pants.

Fakes

They were found during a routine inspection on board a container from Copenhagen.

Essex County Council say the fakes were made in China and had £8 price tags on them.

The Wrong Trousers made stars of Wallace and Gromit, his cheese-loving dog, and won their creator Nick Park an Oscar for best animation in 1994.

The crime-solving pair hunt a thieving penguin called Feathers McGraw, who steals a pair of automatic trousers that Wallace invented.
