Progress in talks on Kosovo rebels

The NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo, K-FOR, says progress has been made in efforts to end attacks along the Serbian border by ethnic Albanians.

Neither K-FOR nor the Yugoslav army are allowed to operate inside a five-kilometer border zone where the guerillas are active, but K-FOR says it has stepped up patrols on the Kosovo side of the border to restrict the guerrillas' movements. The K-FOR commander, General Carlo Cabigiosu, and the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Nebojsa Covic, met in Bujanovac to discuss the incursions by the guerrillas, who are trying to get three Serbian border towns incorporated into Kosovo.
