Reports say the second joint military exercises to be held by Kazakhstan and the United States have begun outside the Kazakh city of Almaty.
Referring to comments made by a Kazakh military spokesman, the Russian news agency Interfax says the exercises named Balance-Kayak-98 should help to develop ways of supplying aid to people living in areas of conflict.
The first Kazakh- American exercises were held last year.
