As the team departed for France, Brown said: "We have a great chance to make history, and the boys know that. We have got to dispel the notion of being brave losers." Scotland have never got beyond the first round but are convinced they can progress to the knock-out phase this time. Also in Group A are Norway and Morocco. The Scots have been encouraged by recent results, including a 2-2 draw with Colombia and a 0-0 draw with the USA, and morale in the camp appears good.
