Starred questions
With the exception of Friday, business in the House of Lords begins each day with up to four oral "starred" questions to the government.

Notice of such questions must be given.

They are called "starred questions" because they are marked with an asterisk on the order paper.

Supplementary questions on the same subject may be asked by any Lord without notice.

In total, the four starred questions are allocated a maximum of half an hour.
