OAU calls for restraint in Horn of Africa


CAN FOLLOW ETHIOPIA ERITREA The Organisation of African Unity has called on Eritrea and Ethiopia to exercise maximum restraint, to enable a peaceful settlement of their spiralling border dispute.

The OAU secretary general, Salim Ahmed Salim, urged African leaders to put the weight of the continent behind efforts to broker an end to the fighting.

He was speaking in Burkina Faso, where foreign ministers are preparing the agenda for the OAU summit in Burkina Faso on Monday,
