The Indian defence ministry is reported to have installed two complaints boxes outside its headquarters in an effort to combat corruption.

The locked boxes -- to be used by staff to report any corruption-related complaints -- will be opened once a week.

The Press Trust of India news agency said the defence minister, George Fernandes, would personally look into the complaints and take necessary action.
