Mexicans become Mexican again

At a ceremony in Mexico City, about one-hundred people have officially become Mexicans for the second time in their lives under a new dual nationality law.

The legislation allows Mexicans who've adopted the citizenship of another country to regain their lost nationality.

As Mexicans, they're not subject to the rules on owing property imposed on foreigners.

However, the new law does not give them the right to vote or run for office.

Correspondents say the legislation could also have an impact in the United States, where several million Mexican immigrants could decidce to seek US citizenship now it means they don't have to sever ties with their homeland.
