Three BBC journalists charged in Yemen

Three BBC journalists, who were arrested in Yemen last month, have been charged with filming in a restricted area without permission.

The three, including a BBC correspondent, Rageh Omaar, are due to appear in court on Saturday.

They were arrested last month after returning from the mountainous south-east of Yemen, where they filmed members of a tribe which has kidnapped a number of foreigners recently.

A BBC spokesman said the journalists had all been properly accredited and appealed for them to be allowed to return home immediately.
