The authorities in the Irish Republic have issued an alert after incendiary bombs dating from the Second World War were found on beaches on the east coast.
All nine devices were coated with phosphorous which ignites on exposure to air.
The bombs are believed to have been washed ashore from the Beaufort Dyke, a deep trench under the Irish Sea which was used by Britain as a munitions dump for about seventy years.
