The largest political party in Venezuela, Democratic Action Acción Democráticahas chosen its candidate for the presidential elections in December.

He is the party´s secretary-general, Luis Alfaro Ucero.

Democratic Action currently has the largest number of seats in Congress.

Recent opinion polls put Mr Alfaro a long way behind the two leading presidential candidates, Hugo Chavez and Irene Saez. .
