Arafat visits Oman for talks


The Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, has held talks with Sultan Qaboos of Oman on the deadlocked Middle East peace process Omani officials said the two men discussed proposals to hold an Arab summit.

Mr Arafat has visited several Arab capitals recently to lobby for a unified Arab stand against Israel.

He says most Arab states are in favour of holding a summit.
