Hong Kong unveils twelve point plan to boost jobs

The Hong Kong government has announced a detailed plan intended to create new jobs.

The plan emerged at the first meeting of an emergency task force on unemployment led by the financial secretary, Donald Tsang.

The measures include introducing or bringing forward a number of publicly-funded projects.

Officials say one-hundred-thousand new jobs will be created in the next eighteen months.

Meanwhile, seven political parties, including the Democratic Party and pro-China groups, agreed to push proposals to confront a sharp economic slump and to ease rising unemployment.
