A nude portrait of a pregnant Jerry Hall has been unveiled as one of the most striking exhibits in a new Lucien Freud exhibition at the Tate Gallery. The tiny painting of the Texan model, measuring only 10cm by 15cm, is part of a collection being shown for the first time in the UK. The barely recognisable image, which shows the wife of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger lying on one side, is on show until July 26.

The Verve are to top the bill at the first of a series of once-a-year concerts at the home of an Irish lord. The open-air show will go ahead in the grounds of Slane Castle near Dublin, owned by Lord Henry Mount Charles. The concert will take place on Saturday August 29. Previous gigs at Slane have featured the likes of The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

The Bee Gees have announced they are to play their first gig in Britain for several years. The trio, Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, are to play a one-off date at Wembley Stadium on September 5 as part of a leisurely world tour. The last concert will be in Australia in March and the tour also takes in South Africa and South America. Their first hit was 31 years ago.

A host of celebrities are in London helping to raise money for the domestic violence charity Refuge. Today Ruby Wax, Maureen Lipman and Carol Vorderman, are among the TV stars at the BT Tower helping the charity find the money to continue running its 24-hour crisis line. The chief executive of Refuge said the phone line takes more than 20,000 calls a year but is under threat as it has failed in cash bids from the National Lotteries Charities Board.
