Argentine judge says IBM men ignored calls to give evidence

An Argentine judge has been giving more details about an international arrest warrant for four executives of the American computer company, IBM.

The judge, Adolfo Bagnasco, wants the men to come to Argentina to testify as suspects in a bribery case.

Speaking in a BBC interview, Mr Bagnasco said he issued the arrest warrants because the four executives had twice been asked to travel to Argentina, but had refused.

Judge Bagnasco is investigating allegations that bribes were paid to win a multi-million dollar contract for IBM's Argentine subsidiary to upgrade computers at a state-owned bank Banco Nacion.

IBM has denied any wrongdoing, but admitted to mistakes and dismissed several of its top executives in Argentina.

About twenty people from IBM, the bank and the government have already been accused of involvement in the case.
