Shrine banned at Goldstein grave

The Israeli parliament has passed a law aimed at banning a makeshift shrine which has been built by the grave of Baruch Goldstein, the Jewish settler who killed twenty-nine Muslim worshippers in Hebron in 1994.

The law was initiated by a member of the left-wing Meretz party, Ran Cohen.

Mr Cohen said if Goldstein's grave continued to be a pilgrimage site for Jewish extremists, he would introduce a new bill calling for the removal of the grave itself.
