Ghana rejects Nigeria plot allegations

The government in Ghana has strongly denied allegations that it's plotting to destablise neighbouring Nigeria.

The Ghanaian foreign minister, Victor Gbeho, told the BBC that he was shocked and disappointed by remarks made by a Nigerian presidential adviser, Alhaji Wadanas.

He had accused Ghana of hosting a meeting, attended by delegates from the United States, the European Union and South Africa, which agreed to support a campaign of civil disobedience by the Nigerian opposition.

South Africa has also dismissed the Nigerian allegations.

A presidential spokesman said the South African government believed its relations with Nigeria were on a firm footing.
