The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on the United States to give up its practice of reviewing China's trade status every year, saying this undermines relations between the two countries.

The Ministry said that China should be granted permanent Most Favoured Nation Status as this would improve bilateral ties.

China's trade status will be debated by the US Congress later this week.
