Viewers flock to Friends finale



The cliffhanger finale for US sitcom Friends drew 2.26m viewers when it was screened on Sky One last Sunday compared to the channel's normal figure of one million, according to unofficial figures. The hour-long episode featured the "will-they-won't-they?" altar scenes between characters Ross (David Schwimmer) and Emily (Helen Baxendale). But fans will have to wait at least three months for the next series to start in America before finding out whether the couple tie the knot or Ross returns to Rachel (Jennifer Aniston).

Legendary trio get set to rock Wembley

Three of the world's top rock 'n 'roll stars with a combined aged of 198 are getting together for a London concert next month. Chuck Berry, 72, will join Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, both 63, at Wembley Arena on July 22. Between them, the singers of legendary recordings like Sweet Little Sixteen, Tutti Frutti and Great Balls of Fire have been in showbusiness for almost one and a half centuries.

EastEnders off to the World Cup

Some EastEnders characters are off to the World Cup fun as part of an up-to- the-minute storyline. Roy Evans, played by Tony Caunter, and wife Pat (Pam St Clements) get a pair of tickets for the World Cup finals, with Roy by far the keener of the two. Meanwhile Barry convinces Huw, Lenny and Robbie to head for Paris on the promise of tickets from one of his dodgy mates. An EastEnders spokeswoman promised a "twist in the tail".

Girl band B*witched claim the top spot

B*Witched have gone one better than the Spice Girls and All Saints by entering the UK chart at No 1 with their debut single C'est La Vie. The Irish girl band toppled Tamperer from the top spot with the catchy song which was released last Monday.

B*Witched have another reason to celebrate this week it's just been announced that they will be supporting Hanson on their one-off Wembley Arena date on June 16.


Goth Rockers Bauhaus back for live gigs

British goth-rockers Bauhaus are to give it another go 15 years after their farewell concert in London. The four original members will reunite next month for three shows, dubbed Resurrection at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles. Former member Peter Murphy has released five solo albums. Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins stayed together as Love And Rockets, and plan to release their sixth album, Lift, in October.


Walters breaks secret wedding silence

Julie Walters has told of her secret wedding to her partner of 13 years. The actress tied the knot with Grant Roffney during a trip to New York to celebrate his 40th birthday last year. "We asked a couple from Seattle who were there to witness someone else's wedding if they would be witnesses for us," Julie told The Times newspaper. Although the wedding was for practical reasons, "it turned into something much more romantic", she confided
