Two bomb explosions in state of Jammu and Kashmir

A girl has been killed and nineteen other people injured in a bomb explosion ata market in Jammu, the capital of the Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The explosion coincided with the end of a local election campaign, and occured as activists were returning to the market.

But police say they have no information to indicate who might be responsible.

Earlier, a bomb exploded at a military intelligence office in Jammu.

A BBC correspondent in the region says a number of political groups -- who accuse the government of doing too little to stop the bomb explosions -- have called for a general strike today.
