DR Congo meeting

The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Laurent Kabila, has met the country's main opposition leader, Etienne Tshisekedi, for the first time since taking power last year.

Mr Tshisekedi -- a former prime minister and leader of the opposition UDPS party -- met President Kabila on Saturday in the south-eastern town of Lumumbashi.

He has been based in the town since February when he was ordered to leave the capital, Kinshasa, for violating a law banning all political activity in the country for two years.
