Qatar leader in Bosnia


The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad ibn Khalifa al-Thani has beun an official visit to Bosnia -- the first Arab leader to visit Sarajevo since the war which ended in 1995.

It is expected that his talks with Bosnian leaders will result in new agreements on economic issues as Bosnia continues its post-war reconstruction programme.

Qatar is reported to have already given Bosnia nearly two million dollars to rebuld Moslem homes destroyed in the conflict, and a similar sum for the rebuilding of a universikty of Islamic studies in Sarajevo.
