Heroes' welcome for Pakistan's nuclear scientists

The scientists who oversaw Pakistan's six nuclear tests have returned to a heroes' welcome in the capital, Islamabad.

Hundreds of people cheered and threw flower petals when they arrived at the airport from Baluchistan, where the devices were detonated.

Pakistan's senior nuclear scientist, A.Q. Khan, said the government had now recalled missiles it deployed before its nuclear tests, in what it said at the time was a move to deter any pre-emptive strike by India.

He said the missiles were no longer on red alert and had been called back.

The UN Security Council is considering a resolution put forward by Japan calling for further unspecified measures against both India and Pakistan if they don't call a halt to the tests.
