Bring on Brazil!

A hair-raising encounter: Scotland's John Collins tussles with Joe-Max Moore

Scotland played out a goal-less draw against the United States in their last warm-up match before the opening World Cup game against Brazil on June 10.

"I feel very confident," Scotland scoring leader Kevin Gallacher said. "We had good scoring chances out there. Maybe we should have had a couple of goals out there but we go into World Cup confident."

Scotland, who last won 2-0 in a qualifying match against Latvia, do not have an enviable record. They lost to France to open the year, drew 1-1 with Finland last month and drew Colombia 2-2 a week ago.

The Scots have yet to reach the second round in seven trips to the finals. They face Brazil June 10 in the first World Cup match and also meet Norway and Morocco in round one.

"We're looking forward to Brazil," midfielder John Collins said. "They are the best team in the world and everybody expects them to beat us comfortably. All the pressure is on them. We have no worries.

Gallacher had the day's best scoring chance but was denied by American goalkeeper Kasey Keller on a breakaway in the 59th minute. The Blackburn Rovers forward sent a low right-footed shot that was knocked aside.

"I should have buried it," Gallacher said. "I gave myself too much time and had too many thoughts in my head."
