The authorities in Mexico City have lifted a pollution alert after ozone levels started to decline after five days of emergency measures.

All cars will be allowed back onto the roads again.

Despite the partial lifting of the smog, the city is still affected by smoke from forest fires in the surrounding mountains.

The government has said that air pollution is costing the country millions of dollars a day in lost industrial production and extra health costs.
