Cuba denies deal with Nicaragua

The Cuban government says it will not allow any of the Cubans repatriated from the Bahamas to go to Nicaragua.

In a statement, the Cuban foreign ministry said that if the Nicaraguan President, Arnoldo Aleman, wanted to accept immigrants, he could have all the Cubans he wanted expect those who were returned by the Bahamas.

Yesterday, Nicaragua said it was willing to give temporary asylum to the around two-hundred repatriated Cubans who had fled to the Bahamas in flimsy boats.

The group includes three baseball players and a coach, who were banned from the game in Cuba.

American clubs have signed several exiled Cuban players, including one for six point six million dollars.
