Algerians say six killed in gun battle near airport

The security forces in Algeria say they killed six Islamic extremists in a two-hour gun battle in a residential area Bab Ezzouar near Algiers international airport.

They say that during the operation, they seized several weapons, along with telecommunications equipment.

Local residents say that a young girl was killed in the crossfire, and a young civilian man was wounded.
