A computer problem on the Russian space station, Mir, has forced the three cosmonauts aboard to switch off their air conditioning and lights to save energy.

American space officials said that -- despite the computer problem -- they fully expected to launch the space shuttle Discovery on Tuesday for a planned rendezvous with Mir.
