Indonesian economy deteriorating rapidly

To follow INDONESIA SUHARTO WEALTH Includes "Malaysia Economy"The director for Asia of the International Monetary Fund Hubert Neiss has warned that Indonesia's economy is deteriorating rapidly.

Speaking at the end of a visit to the country, he said it was up to the IMF board to decide when to resume aid, but every week that loans were delayed would make Indonesia's problems worse.

Meanwhile a further indication of the impact of the Asian economic crisis has come from Malaysia, which says that in the first three months of this year, output fell by one-point-eight per cent.

Malaysia has now followed Hong Kong in registering the first negative growth in thirteen years.
