Taiwan service for air crash victims

A memorial service has been held in Taiwan for those who died in the crash of a Singapore Airlines jumbo jet there nearly three weeks ago.

Four-hundred relatives, along with senior officials of the Taiwanese government and the airline, attended the ecumenical service in a stadium in Taipei decorated with white lilies and roses.

Eighty-two people were killed when the Singaporean plane tried to take off on the wrong runway, struck construction equipment and broke up in flames.

The three flight crew, who survived, didn't attend the service: they're still under investigation facing possible criminal charges.
