United States gives aid to Yugoslavia
The United States has said it will rush through forty-five million dollars in food aid to help the people of Serbia through the winter. The announcement came as the Yugoslav government officially resumed diplomatic ties with the US and three other NATO members -- Britain, France and Germany -- who led the bombing campaign against Yugoslavia last year. In a statement, President Clinton said President Kostunica and his government had already made dramatic progress since the ousting of Slobodan Milosevic. But Mr Clinton warned that the country still faced substantial challenges. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
