Briton killed in Saudi car blast
An explosion in a car in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, has killed a British man and injured his wife. British officials are treating the incident -- which occurred in a busy shopping district -- as a deliberate attack. They believe the car may have been booby-trapped. No-one has admitted carrying out the attack, but the police are reported to have made several arrests. Although there have been bomb attacks against American military facilities in Saudi Arabia in the past, it's the first such attack against a Briton. Around thirty-thousand Britons live and work in the country -- many of them in the defence industry. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
